India is witnessing a significant entrepreneurial revolution fuelled by proactive action from State and Central Government, thus, fostering the entrepreneurial culture in the country. Startups, entrepreneurship promotion and innovation are clear-cut priority areas for the Indian government to spur economic growth and employability opportunities. However, these initiatives can be strengthened through conscious handholding, funding support, incentives, industry-academia partnership and incubation. The role of Higher education institutions in this regard is highly crucial in elevating the Indian start up ecosystem by catering to the diverse needs of infrastructural facilities, funding, technical and business consultancy and mentorship of the budding entrepreneurs. Innovation is, today, more about the cross-pollination of ideas. It is about the fusion of products, processes, technologies and ideas. Fostering innovation through academic intervention would definitely help in providing the right direction to the students for converting their evolutionary ideas into revolutionary business models. Good incubation support is, therefore, critically crucial for aspiring entrepreneurs starting out. TMU-Business Incubation Centre (TMU-BIC) aims to create an enabling environment for innovative and inquisitive brains to mingle together to explore, experiment and evolve their learning into appropriate business propositions which have commercial relevance in the society. It intends to introduce practical component in the curriculum, facilitate open innovation, launch businesses, develop new products, integrate policy makers, business leaders and University administrators, forge connections between industry and academia thereby leading to social and entrepreneurial movement. We aim to foster and facilitate creativity and enterprising culture among our students so that they emerge as job creators rather than job seekers through a strong motivational mechanism. I wish all the best to all the entrepreneurial and innovative brains of the region and the country and exhort them to be a part of our endeavour through the platform of TMU-BIC to make Start up India’ initiative of the Govt. of India, a grand success. It’s our strong conviction that TMUBIC would be instrumental in reinforcing the commitment of Teerthanker Mahaveer University towards the accomplishment of larger objectives of community development of the region and nation as a whole.
